Project Laptop
We're helping the kids you see in this picture experience something most of us own, called a computer.
What's the story
At Jack & Hill Adventures, we operate our outdoor experiences in super remote areas of Maharashtra.
At one of these locations, we happened to visit a school and spent some time playtime with the kids. At the end, we casually enquired with the teachers on what we could possibly do to help the kids.
The teachers told us that they would like to empower their kids by giving them access to a computer.
Since the village had no consistent electricity, the teachers specifically asked us if we could help arrange laptops instead of desktops as the battery in the laptop would help their kids stay plugged.
With strong Jio 4G available in the area, we figured all we needed to do for these was possibly collect a bunch of old laptops from the city and bring them here.
So we took this up as a problem we would like to help solve because we believe it is way too easy to do.

And so we started collecting, problems
We were quite lucky to have a few good samaritans donate their old laptops to us, but with old laptops, we also began to run into a bunch of hardware & software issues.

We also realized that giving laptops individually to the kids at the moment may not be beneficial to all the kids since families were hesitant in sharing the device with kids from other homes within the same village.
And, so our Goal altered
We decided that if we could get 30 properly working laptops present on the school premises at all times, every child from every class could have access to the device.
We decided to accept
1. Brand New laptops
2. Completely working used laptops that donors were confident about
3. A monitory donation of any kind that could go into purchasing
